Orphanage pictures

Shortly after we arrived home from China, a package was waiting on us at the post office. We had to be home to sign for it and the mailman didn't check to see if we were home. He just assumed we were not and took it to the post office for us to pick it up. Inside the package was a CD of about 300 pictures of Benjamin from the orphanage!!

In the fall last year while waiting on our HuiHui, I mailed a package to the orphanage which included a digital camera. Several people that have adopted children from Gejiu wanted to help contribute (thank you!!). One reason I sent it was to get pictures for me (selfish!) and the other reason was for all the future Gejiu families to have pictures of their child's life before they are with their forever family. What a sweet blessing it has been to us to have all these wonderful pictures and to know that all these precious children will some day be placed with their forever families...with a cd of pictures in hand. I have about 5 pictures each of Alaina and Hudson's first year of life and I think I have several hundred of Benjamin.

Thank you U.Steve and A. Kim....and XF for helping us have a whole scrapbook of pictures for our Benjamin. This is probably more pictures than the average American born child would have...LOL.

Putting the wheel on his his riding toy!!
This explains his love for splashing in the water.

Joseph is standing in the front and Benjamin is in the back smiling!
This explains why he thinks he can go up and down stairs like a big boy.
Playing outside. Notice all the beautiful scenery of Gejiu!

He's wearing "girl clothes." I think he's the cutest "girl" ever. Also, notice the squeaky shoes with flowers....and the palm trees.
Isn't he so cute playing with the babies? I have so many pictures of him loving on the babies. These pictures were taken just a few days before we met.
Dancing...
And more dancing...with Joseph.
My cloth diaper.
The Four Little Buddies...
And this explains the climbing out of his pack-n-play and crib since we have been home. U.Steve said the nannies rewarded him with "laughter." Every day after nap time, it was a routine that the babies climbed out of their beds and all the nannies laughed. I have to admit, they are pretty cute climbing out of their beds!! I would have laughed, too.

This makes so much sense now! Everyday, Benjamin climbs out of his pack-n-play and smiles at me...waiting for me to laugh. It's just not funny, Benjamin!! He continues to do it everyday...
So...I ordered a crib tent to go over the baby crib. I cannot wait until that $50 item arrives! I will keep you posted...
Benjamin is standing behind his friend as he teaches him gymnastics.
Benjamin is in the red shirt.

And the "gymnastics equipment" is also used as a bed.

Oh my gracious! The pictures are the sweetest ever - and live action shots too! Climbing out, straddling, playing with the babies - what a blessing to have all of them! He is just the cutest little guy ever! My kids are all sleeping (late night last night) but I can't wait till they are awake to show them! With Benjamin's apparent love for babies - is there another baby in the future? =) Life is short - go for it!

Oh Trina,

What wonderful pictures! What a treasure!! I am cracking up over the ones of him somersaulting between the beds! It must be wonderful to understand more of why he does some of the things he does...

Hugs,
Sharla

I just came across your blog the other week. It was listed on another blog I was looking at (can't remember which one). We are in the process of adopting a 3 year old boy from Chengdu. He had a cleft lip/palate that was corrected before he was a year old. We are still waiting on our CIS approval (it's been a much longer wait than we expected). We're hoping to be in China by Februry.

I LOVE these orphanage photos. What an incredible blessing for you and for him! I have heard of sending disposable cameras but never sending a real, long term camera for the purpose of blessing other families as well. LOVE that idea. We may try to do that now.

I also wanted to say that I read through all your links/info about adoption and it was very helpful. It is encouraging to hear from other families who have a heart for adoption. julia/indiana

Trina,

The pictures are too cute. I think you do have a little gymnast on your hands! I can't believe the nannies thought the climbing was funny; the mom in me is having a heart attack! Can't wait to hear what he thinks of the crib tent!

Miss ya,

Robin
