Joel's dad...update.

Saturday, December 26, earlier that day, we found out that Joel's dad would not be able to be with us at the family gathering because he had the "flu" so we thought. Joel's mom came for about an hour but then went home to be with his Dad. Little did we know, he had already had a stroke or was very close.

Fast forward to Wednesday, the day they flew him to our hospital, and had planned to do emergency surgery when he landed. His brain was bleeding from the stroke. Thankfully, Joel was there when the helicopter landed. We thought within hours, he was going to be in surgery, and possibly not see him until we get to Heaven. We were so grieved but knew that he was a follower of Christ, the One who created him and had already "numbered his days." We knew we would see him again.

Three weeks later, his dad is now home, doing great! He came home last Wednesday! He's walking...something that we thought he would never do again. He's so happy to be home with his bride...sleeping in his own bed, watching his own tv and wearing his own clothes (instead of the thin gowns at the hospital).

Thank you all for praying for him. Continue to pray for complete recovery. And also for his mom. Last week, on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, his mom was in the hospital with other health issues....while his dad was still in the rehab hospital. So on Tuesday, his mom returned home and then Wednesday his dad joined her.

I guess this is our new stage of life and it's not fun. It's not fun seeing your parents suffer. But... we have hope of their recovery as God has already performed many miracles in our lives these past three weeks. It's been a sad time but a very sweet time of realizing how special they are to us...all 31 of us.
